Pakayor or Karen live in Umphang more than 200 years, according to Laitungkuh village settle legend. Karen life along Meachun river is nearly the same as traditional life. Their lives are close and respect to nature that why forest here still alive.
They make daily life products, utensils or tools such as clothes, basket, tools etc by themselves. Traditional house is made from bamboo. Their foods are in their fields or in the forest.
Pakayor is Karen word meaning man or mankind. We suspect that they call themselves in this way because they against racism by declaring as mankind.
Activities
- Farming activities such as transplanting, mowing, harvesting etc
- Weaving
- Making basket from bamboo.
- Making yarn from cotton.
- Find vegetable, Fishing.
- etc.
Day1 Transfer to Umphang after breakfast. Lunch in Umphang then go to Thi Jor Chee Villages, Meachun sub district. Relaxing and walk around the village. After dinner, visit their house for making more understanding.
Day2 Karen life activities.
Day3 Karen life activities.
Day4 Karen life activities.
Day5 After Breakfast, go to visit Kuita Culture Museum that its established by a group of people in this villagers. Back to Umphang and Launch. After that go back to Measot.
